MEN WHO CRY

To the men who cry

You’re not broken

You’re just man enough to admit that water moistens the dry ground which you’ve been tilling for years

To the men who wail

You’re not soft

You’re just wise enough to release the volcano rumbling beside your heart

To the men who retreat

You’re not a coward

You’re just smart enough to know that a rubber gun has to go backwards to go furthest.

To the men who cry

You’re not weak

Your just man enough to teach your sons that life isn’t just pebbles

it’s pebbles that shine because of the sea that washes above

You’re just man enough to teach your sons that they too can smell the roses

To the men who cry

Let no one ask you why
